Palme’s, and therefore Sweden’s, political philosophy was referred to as the “third way,” a path that negotiated a space between the Capitalist West and the Communist East. Palme spearheaded and became chairperson of what is often called the Palme Commission, where, along with other leading global politicians, he tried to come up with a blueprint for disarmament that would make the world safer.
