Since then, the unscrupulous businessman had tricked many people in his new country. In his old homeland of Germany, he was wanted for rape, extortion, assault and battery, fraud, and tax evasion. In his new home of South Africa, he had long been protected by his ties to the security services agents and the highest political leaders, including the foreign minister Pik Botha.
