That lack of validation can rot you from the inside. People fail themselves in the jungle. Before they know it, self-doubt has consumed them.
Selection is about conquering your own mind. To do that, you have to learn to self-validate, which might simply mean telling yourself you’ve had a good day when you’ve got a bit of time on your hands. Because in a real combat situation, you’re not going to have someone patting you on the back and saying, ‘Well done! Great shooting. Would you like a hug?’
Living life in a comfort zone might feel comfortable, but it’s just existing.
If you visualise what you want, you will make decisions and take actions that bring you closer to that goal, even if some of those decisions and actions will be a result of subconscious thinking. If you’re a negative person, you will get negative outcomes. If you’re a positive person, you will get positive outcomes. It’s a choice we make.
Too often, people look externally for purpose and contentment. I learned that I didn’t need anyone else in my life, that my purpose and contentment came from within.
You can just sit in an armchair, close your eyes, concentrate on your breathing, clear the mind and focus on the things that are really important to you.
So many people don’t focus on the things they want in life. They don’t have a plan, because they don’t have any goals. And if you don’t have any goals or a plan, you lack any drive, which can lead to mental health issues.
