home. It felt so good. So, fulfilling. To be listening to this song, making a meal for a man who loved her. It was a woman’s duty to keep a man fed. Women fought that role. Hated it, even, because they were so busy fulfilling so many other roles. Roles that weren’t really theirs to uphold. By the time they got to this simple task, it felt like a burden. It felt like the last thing in the world a woman wanted to do…stand over a hot stove at the end of a long day, after doing every damn thing else. Ethic didn’t require her to do anything but love him, so she had the desire and the energy to pour her soul into this meal.
