So, the final thing I want you to quit doing is waiting.
People say they want to change because they don’t like their life the way it is, but when it comes down to brass alarm clocks, they’d rather have the comfort of their warm bed than the cold, unwelcoming air of the morning run. The difference is, I don’t think it’s an intentional or a conscious choice that you are making.
Human nature will always see problems and try to find strategies and silver bullets, but the old pattern is more than just a magnet-pull, it’s a river where the water of our choices will find a forever path. We take the easy route, most of us, by default. The problem is, the easy route is the frustrating route.
Because the point is, there is no easy route, and there is no self-generating epiphany, and there are no Top Ten Ways To Inner Peace And Millionairity. None that will actually work, long-term.
So, the good news is: if you do the work, the work works.
Because what keeps you stuck in your old patterns is brain circuitry. And brain circuitry is hard to change. Not un-change-able, but hard to change. There is no epiphany that’s going to make you walk away a different person. You have to become that different person, every day. You have to rewire the circuits from one place to another. It takes time. Knowing is only half the equation.
