Negative emotions naturally feel bad; think of grief, fear, jealousy, or strong cravings. So with the emotion in the driver’s seat, and with something inside feeling bad, our number one priority (unconsciously) becomes to feel better, and we automatically seek relief of the pain we’re feeling.
