A glance at a Bible concordance will show the religious meaning of lip. Start by looking at Job 27:4; 33:3; Psalm 12:2-4; 16:4; 40:9; 45:2; 51:15 (“O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise,” ESV); Isa. 6:5 (“I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips,” ESV); Isa. 6:7; and Mal. 2:6-7.
