“Internalizers,” in Long’s and Fescer’s framework, have internalized their traumatic stress. These young people get angry in schools, but when they settle down, they tend to end up blaming themselves for something else that went wrong in their lives. They act out impulsively but feel bad afterward. These young people are at high risk of drug and alcohol use, and they can be students who harm themselves, are depressed, and are anxious.
