His mouth stretched into a warped grin, crooked and slightly off, though she was hard-pressed to say how. She grinned back, and she wondered if her smile was as broken and twisted as his was.
She’d been in Toronto less than a day and with Kovit less than an hour before she’d been involved in a murder. And she hadn’t even had a chance to dissect the body. No, we aren’t supposed to think like that.
She swallowed, wishing she could use mouthwash on her brain.
Nita looked up at him. She felt like she’d known him for ages, the darkness of his eyes more familiar to her than her own. Maybe that just meant she should look in a mirror more often.
