we managed to create a material and use it at unbelievable scale with no plan for how to deal with it afterward. Single-use plastic cutlery, plastic bags and plastic-lined coffee cups have become central to our lives—used once for a matter of minutes, they will not break down for hundreds of years.
Essential items for a plastic-free life include: a nice water bottle, a reusable coffee cup, a tote bag (or even just a backpack) for your shopping, a lunch box and some kitchen storage containers.
The sad conclusion is that no matter how hard we work to get rid of plastic now and in the future, the impact of our actions is so vast that it will be visible across the globe for generations to come.
Plastic is being eaten by everything—from the tiniest plankton to the great whales, it is entering the food chain at every level.
The global movement to reduce plastic needs to focus on getting rid of it at the source as the only way to prevent it from getting into the ocean in the first place.
every victory against plastic begins with a single person or small group of people deciding that the time to take action is now.
