Thus, Boyle, for example, never considered the possibility that the study of nature would undermine belief in God, but instead regarded devotion to the study of nature, like devotion to the study of scripture, as “an act of Piety,”12 especially since he thought God desired “to have his Works regarded & taken Notice of.”
