In our experience, we have often observed intelligent agents producing finely tuned systems, whether in a digital computer, an internal combustion engine, an arrangement of flowers conveying a message, or a recipe for an exquisite French dish. The very idea of fine tuning implies that some conditions or parameters were precisely and improbably set to achieve a purpose—one that points, based upon our uniform and repeated experience, to the action of a purposive or intelligent agent.
