Every Tool's a Hammer: Life Is What You Make It

This is one of the main reasons I believe that adolescence can be so fraught for so many. Just as we start to catch the barest glimpses of our true selves and begin to understand what it is about the world that fascinates and intrigues us, we often run right into people who aren’t ready to be encouraging and can be downright hostile to someone being “different.”

Just a few pages in, and already I'm highlighting gems like this.

I don’t like telling people things they don’t want to hear, but I remind myself that by providing negative feedback, I’m investing in the people I’m talking to. If I didn’t think they were any good, I’d not bother telling them they did something wrong, I’d just not hire them again. Keeping that in mind has helped me give better critique.
