If we combine Jesus’ example of feasting with the Old Testament teaching on the Sabbath and the Messianic kingdom; and then if we throw in the astonishing news of Jesus’ resurrection, it should be clear why the worship of the early Church was characterized by such joy and festivity. How could worship be anything but festive?
