Cole stormed into the room and scooped me up before tossing me onto the bed. “For fucks sake, Vixen, get some sleep,” he commanded, stripping down to his boxers and climbing in beside me. I wanted to protest, but he clamped an arm over me. It was obviously what I needed because in seconds, the sleep eluding me swept over me like a wave and dragged me under.
I had no idea what this feeling was that was pushing me forwards but I just needed to make sure she was okay.
“Yeah, Princess, it’s me. Asshole.”

“I'm glad you're home, Vixen.” The last part was whispered so quietly I almost didn't hear the thick emotion in his voice, but I did, and it made my heart flutter.

“I wouldn’t know.” I yawned. “I’ve never had one. Is it?” “No idea,” he replied, carrying us back to the apartment in long strides. “I’ve never been one.”
