Jesus came not to institute a new religion but to usher in a new Kingdom – God’s Kingdom, or the Kingdom of Heaven. He came declaring that the Kingdom of God was near, and that when we are born again we are born into that Kingdom. In Matthew 22, Jesus tells us what that Kingdom is like: ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son.
