Exodus 24 contains one of the most stunning encounters with God in the Old Testament. The context is that God enters into covenant with the nation of Israel. The covenant is then ratified through the shedding of the blood of sacrificed animals. Moses sprinkled the blood and declared “this is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you” (Exodus 24:8) What followed then is an invitation for four key leaders and the 70 elders of the nation to ascend into the very presence of God Himself.
