As I got older and began to fear the Lord, there were occasions when I would refuse Communion due to some sin that I had committed that week and the fear that I would ‘sin against the body and blood of the Lord.’ As I have matured though, I have come to realise what a bizarre misunderstanding of Scripture the traditional interpretation of 1 Corinthians 11 is. Firstly, nowhere does it tell us that we are examining ourselves to see if there is any sin in our lives.
