Boris Johnson declared that ‘as many as 16 per cent of our species have an IQ below 85, while about 2 per cent have an IQ above 130’. He presumably thought that his was at the higher level. A popular newspaper reported this as ‘Thickos born to toil’.21 In fact, it was Johnson who was being a little slow, but at the same time appearing super-confident and able (at least to those of his friends and supporters who were easily impressed).
