When Brynn was young, she played soccer.” • Keep the pronouns consistent: this is a hard one, especially for parents and siblings who have known a transgender person since childhood. When referring to a transgender person in the past (pre-transition) tense it is even easier to make mistakes with pronouns and names. Again, quickly apologize, and move on.
