The stripes of the tiger naturally break up its outline, blending seamlessly with the shadows of tall grasses and jungle leaves. Since most of its prey is color-blind, the tiger’s orange fur is not noticed, and for those animals that can see color—including humans—its tawny hues meld extremely well with crepuscular light.
