“All you said before. Are those really the things you think of when you think of me ... do you think of me?”
“Come any closer, baby, and you’ll feel the proof of what you do to me.”
“I want you,”
“I know you
can sense it, f...

“I bet you’ve known it now for weeks, but I’ve ached for even longer.”
“Take.”
Tears fill my eyes, it’s such a bittersweet moment.
She’s having so much fun, experiencing something for the very first time, and there’s no one to share it with. There’s never anyone to share anything with.
To cry where no one will see, like the senseless girl I’ve allowed myself to become.
“We’re—”
“Say friends, I dare you.”
I jerk forward, take her neck in my palm, and smash my lips into hers.
“You gonna shake for me, baby?”
“I don’t expect you to—” “Expect it,”
“Whatever it is, expect it, want it, demand it even. There’s only one other person in this fucking world I allow to get in my head, but baby, you didn’t ask permission.”
“Let me be someone that matters to you, ‘cause, you matter to me, Tutor Girl. Both of you do.”
“My husband was a butcher when I met him. Want to know what I was?” She raises a brow, answering before I have time to say a word, “A vegetarian.”
“You mean the ones that didn’t exist?” I look back to him, unsure of why I threw that out just now.
“I think it means he loves her.”
Cause he’s got a woman now and trust me when I say, she’s first-string material. You don’t stand a chance.”
I’m at the mercy of a man who doesn’t deserve to be called one, and there’s not a thing I can do about it.
How I don’t remember drinking much and the pills he gave me the next day. The same blue pills.
Now, all I want is to look Meyer in the eye and hear her say she wants me, that I'm worth it. That I'm worth more. That she believes in me, chooses me, and knows in her heart I can be what she needs, what Bailey needs.
This is the new me. The me who isn’t wanted by her. I fall asleep, knowing it’s all downhill from here.
“You know nothing. You sit back and revel in the fact that I’m stuck under your thumb, the same way you tried to get Milo there.”
“You fell for the kid ... like actually fell for him, as if it could ever happen for you two.”
“This will do more harm than good, you have to know that. It might help you through this final stretch, but what happens to him after that?” “That will be his problem.” “He trusts you.” “And he lost that when he let a girl get in the way of his game.”
I thought you were comfortable with us and that you might have needed a night out with people your age, that maybe you’d enjoy it, but I don’t need that,” he rushes. “I don’t. I can give up all that.”
He’ll never allow this ...
He’ll destroy my entire world ...
I swear, just ... say it. Tell me you don’t love me back.” I shake my head, my eyes opening, locking onto his as I crack from the inside out, my words repeated, but this time as a tender confession. “I can’t.”
“I need to make sure you understand this isn’t what I’m after. This isn’t what I want from you.”
“I want you. All of you and everything that comes with you. Good, bad, fucked. I want it. Every bit of it.”
“Do you love me?” “It’s not that simple.” “Do. You. Love. Me?”
“Baby,” I prompt. And she finally says, “Yes.”
I’ll forever want more. Need more. Crave more. Of her. Of this.
Of us.
Meyer belongs to me. Period.
Meyer’s last name isn’t Sanders, like she said. It’s Reid. Coach Reid isn’t just her boss. He’s her fucking father.
“You told me to take all her time!” I shout. “You said she made more when she was with me!”
but my dad was a good man, and he taught me better than to leave the people I love. And I love her. I love them both.”
“You’ll only hurt her in the end, and you know it. All those girls on the road, the fame you’ve been chasing. How many times have you said all you needed was the freedom to do whatever you wanted in the world? You could never let all that go!”
“Watch me.”
“This is my life and I never should have missed any part of hers. I love her, like I imagine a father loves a daughter and I didn’t even know she was mine.”
“Hi,” I deadpan, tipping my head slightly. “You’ve been following me around all night, and ‘hi’ is the best you’ve got?”
