Even Jesus protected His rights. He escaped from stoning, from arrest, and from being thrown over a cliff (John 8:59; 10:39; Luke 4:28–30). The Scriptures are clear that He “gave Himself” to the cross and all the abuses therein for the purpose of saving us (Galatians 1:4; 1 Timothy 2:6). He submitted to abuse for the sake of the greater good, but His toleration of it lends absolutely no virtue to the victimization itself.
