what possible source of light in this theoretical 4D, or 5D, or whatever-D world could be powerful enough to cast a 3D shadow to fill this world with mastodons and people and mountains and joy and grief and SWAT teams. It couldn’t be a big fire, or a big spotlight, or an exploding sun, those were all three-dimensional too, and therefore just shadows themselves, just like Hertell and just like the choir.
