Well, that’s where the interesting dynamics of a Trump-devoted conservative evangelical movement take things to the next level. In this era, sins are still sins, but they must be weighed against what are perceived to be greater concerns.
In other words, almost anything these days that you would expect Christians to condemn or oppose is not condemned or opposed because, as they see it, there is a greater moral consideration that takes precedence.
Vessel Theology: God used the harlots and He used Cyrus to achieve His good ends, and like them He can use Trump to fulfill the evangelical policy agenda, which is itself a godly agenda and thus a good end. Ergo, do not question the vessel, or you are questioning the limits of God’s influence. God can use anyone! (Except Hillary Clinton.)
When confronted with an indisputably sinful act he committed in the past, they accept Trump’s apologies. Apologies he never offered. They talk about spiritual growth and the importance of redemption. Growth he’s rarely exhibited and redemption he’s never sought.
