She puts one hand on my cheek and turns my face toward hers. “That was amazing,” she murmurs. Part of me wants to make some cocky remark—you ain’t seen nothing yet, baby—but the other part of me is speechless, because she’s right. That was—different. Amazing in its own way. I think because it was us. And that scares me more than anything. So I don’t say anything at all.
