Objective readers who have read both the Bible and the Qu’ran are immediately able to tell the difference between the quality and comprehensibility of the two books. Historian Edward Gibbon is an example of such a reader. Gibbon could hardly be accused of being a Christian, yet he described the Qu’ran as “an incoherent rhapsody of fable, and precept, and declamation, which sometimes crawls in the dust, and sometimes is lost in the clouds.”23
