The United States saw a brief, benign example of similar economic control during World War II. Many products were scarce due to the massive manufacturing resources funneled into the war effort. Government-issued cards or food stamps were required to purchase rationed goods such as sugar, tires, and other rare staples. That brief practice foreshadows in a mild way the conditions that will dominate the Tribulation period. Store customers will be required to present their hands or foreheads to be scanned before purchases are approved.
