Chileans are still wrestling with the moral dilemma of how to weigh the positive and the negative sides of their country’s former military government: especially, the dilemma of how to balance its economic benefits against its crimes. The dilemma is insoluble. A simple answer would be: Why even try to weigh the benefits against the crimes?
