One Day in December

“Sometimes you just meet the right person at the wrong time,” I say softly. “Yeah,” he says. “And then you spend every day afterward wishing that time could be rearranged.”

Oh, how I loved writing this scene! Laurie and Jack (and the readers!) had worked so hard to reach this point in the book, I really wanted to give their love story a bells and whistles ending, hence the viral twitter hunt and taxi dash across Edinburgh. The whole ‘Rhona’ conversation on the radio gave me all the festive feels as I worked on it, especially Jack’s revelation that he’d recognized Laurie instantly all those years ago. I don’t mind sharing that I was an emotional wreck by the time I reached this point of the manuscript. I couldn’t rest until Laurie had tinsel in her hair again!
