Always explain what you are going to do before you do it. If you are going to be pressing down on someone’s arm to test them, explain the procedure beforehand and get their permission. It is technically possible to test other people through self-testing without their knowing it, and this is wrong. It is critical to ask permission of the person you are going to test, and it is critical that you honor their wishes. Testing people without their permission or against their wishes is a true invasion of their privacy and is unethical. Not only that, but because you don’t have their permission, it may be harder for you to make a good connection, and you may get incorrect answers. So don’t waste your time! Don’t do it even if you’re curious, and tell others that it’s against your principles or ethics to do so. Never test or work on a minor without the permission of their parent or guardian. The same guideline applies to animals.
