For a long time I had lived under the illusion that the world was, essentially, fair. That good guys win in the end – or at least have a fighting chance of winning. Criminals are punished, tyrants are toppled. Bullies eventually go away to live their small, miserable lives. I saw now how naive that was. There was no fairness, no natural justice. No karma.
