They laughed, with that odd pride that people sometimes display when they’re telling you they are crap with technology. As if being unable to use a phone or computer is a positive trait.
I flashed back to a year ago, when I had been putting the finishing touches to the restoration of this house. My beautiful house, in which everything was just how I wanted it, every surface, every wall, every piece of furniture. I remembered that day, when all the work was done, walking through each room, stepping back and taking it all in. All the work and money I’d put into this place. My heart and my soul.
