I sit there in the silence of the room, not sure what I’m supposed to do now. Like, what do you do when your parents kick you out of your house? When your entire life is upheaved, all because you wanted to come out, to be respected and seen, to be called the right pronouns?

unfortunately society prefers people who fit into the standardized mold, and we are all taught (politically, socially, and religiously) to conform to the standard, so inevitably it's confusing when we realize we live outside of societies standardized mold.

No, it’s not fine. I’m so… angry, sad.

it's not fine to be discriminated against, and it's not fine to discriminate against others....but prejudice and discrimination are the 'norm' because religions and politics say so. we should all be angry and sad about this fact of life - but not enough people are prepared to think it through enough to change it, and when politicians try the redesign society into a kinder, caring, and accepting one, there will always be a backlash based on and motivated by 'fear of the other'. this is common ground for populist right wingers like hitler, putin, trump to corral the emotions of their followers and so gain the power and wealth the political cult leader desires.
