Similarly, instead of the classic Framingham clinic risk factors that have been used to predict heart disease for several decades, a group at Boston University used machine algorithmic processing of EHR to achieve over 80 percent accuracy as compared with Framingham’s 56 percent accuracy—scarcely better than a coin flip.33
