We will find that with age, they will start to play more independently, but in the meantime, we can enjoy that they want to spend time with us. • Use a stepladder so they can help in the kitchen. • Let them press the buttons on the washing machine. • Give them the socks to make into pairs while we do laundry, and so on. • Our child may say “Mommy do it”—give a little help and step back to see if they can manage the rest themselves. Stay close at first so they still feel safe and secure.
