“Resting space is private. Because it is the only time we are vulnerable. Those words threaten, were you Askari.”
Tori jerked when she felt a hot gust against her neck and an unexpected sound overwhelmed her senses. It was the purring hum, embellished with deliberate dips and rises. He was...singing, she realized. That was the only way to describe it. No word. Tori’s breath caught. A half laugh, half sob escaping her as roughened fingers caressed her jaw. He was singing, to her.
Aderus snatched a bug from the air as he waited, enjoying the pleasant crunch and squish of it in his mouth. Tori shielded her eyes as she approached. “Ugh. Can you not do that when I’m around? I kiss that mouth. You’re giving me nightmares.” It obviously disgusted her, which he found amusing. Everything he ate repulsed her and Aderus loosed a sharp snort. Nearly everything humans ate repulsed him too. Especially the things that came from their food generators.
