“Your sun is too bright. And hot,” he finally rumbled. “When it sets...that is when your world shows its beauty.”
Askari spoke through their actions, and his actions told her he definitely felt something for her; she wouldn’t have entertained anything with him otherwise. She was just afraid of getting her heart broken. And not through any intentional misdoing on his part, but because he legitimately didn’t know how.
“Humans have different colors too, you know. We’ve learned the hard way it’s wrong to treat someone unequally just because of the way they look. I’m attracted to you because of your differentness, Aderus, not in spite of it. So, tell me why it matters?”
In writing this book, I’ve discovered my approach to romance is from the perspective that relationships never really end, do they? Instead, they culminate in two people realizing their deep feelings of love, affection and/or commitment to one another and the rest is an adventure I think is better left a bit open-ended. All the more satisfying for its element of “realness”...that’s definitely me lol, keep’n it real.
