I will here say, that my father's counsels and prayers, I have reason to think, have kept me from falling into many snares and temptations, with which my life has been beset. His advice and warnings are as fresh in my memory as if they were uttered yesterday. I have reason to bless God for the gift of such a parent. May I never be guilty of any act that shall tarnish his memory."
