That’d be making deals with the devil—in the literal sense.
My heart leaps from my chest. We? I can’t get over the two of them being a thing. It’s not bad—not at all. It’s kind of hot, actually, and sends my imagination running wild.
Vickal laughs—it sounds fake. “I’m not leaving this one alone.” “No kidding,” I add. There’s an acrid taste in my mouth. “Oh, so she’s playing hard to get.” The woman chuckles. “Hold tight onto this one,” she says to Vickal. “The chase is always the best part.” “You bet I will.” Vickal winks at her. He’s a devil, all right. He’s not supposed to look this charming when lying through his teeth.
But there’s hunger in her eyes. I’m glad I’m being a bad influence. That’s what demons are for, right?
She’s a greedy one. Just like the three of us. She’ll fit right in with our little group. Suddenly I’m imagining her between Vickal and I. And Xeres will be there… watching… I’ve always had a thing for that, though Xeres will probably say no. He’s always trying to size Vickal up.
