“You’re telling me that you would know if there was a guy, standing right in front of you, crushing on you?”
“Come on. Tell me who you’re interested in. I’ll match you with her.” He glanced over at me and his expression stilled.
Suddenly, his hand surrounded my wrist and pulled me back. “Bourne.”
Now, whenever we’re mad at each other, all we have to say is “Bourne,” and we have to stop and go watch the movie.
I sighed. “Really?” He shrugged. “It’s a rule.” I shook my head. “No, it’s not.” “Are you challenging our friendship code?”
He studied me. I could see the conflict in his eyes. There was a part of him that wanted to keep arguing, and, oh, there was a part of me that was daring him to try.
There was depth to his voice that told me, yes, he felt bad about what he said. After all, what else could it mean?
The one who never got asked on dates, who’d never kissed a guy, and who never got noticed. I was ready to get noticed.
Ethan whipped around, placed his hands on either side of my face, and pressed his lips against mine.
“No!” I exclaimed. She sighed. “I should have known. You’re always oblivious to things like that.”
Sing “Please Forgive Me” by Bryan Adams? Seriously?
“Olivia, I was hurt. It broke me to find out that you didn’t think I was good enough to be your match.”
When he climbed into the driver’s seat, he smiled over at me. He leaned over and pressed his lips to mine. “So, you’re really happy to be home? You didn’t fall for some French guy when you were there?” I hesitated as I dropped my gaze. “You weren’t supposed to find out about Jacques.” He laughed, but then his expression stilled. “What?” I swatted his arm. “I’m joking. I thought about you and missed you the entire time.”
