If co-sleeping is the only way you can get any sleep, then you may choose to do it to preserve your mental health, ability to drive, and ability to function overall—all things that also benefit your child. And these crucial choices may outweigh a very tiny risk, even a tiny risk of a terrible thing. It’s easy to dismiss people who remind you to take care of yourself. But taking care of yourself is actually part of your responsibility.
