Kindle Notes & Highlights
Wealth is a formula, not an ingredient. Process makes millionaires. Events are residual by-products of process.
Process cannot be outsourced because process dawns wisdom, personal growth, strength, and ultimately, events.
If you don’t know where you are going, how will you know if you get there?
Your belief system acts like a compass that, if errant, can lead you onto unintended detours.
Plotting your course to wealth and building your process starts with examining your current financial roadmap and the alternatives.
Change must evolve from your beliefs, and your roadmap circumscribes those beliefs. Each roadmap is governed by a wealth equation and predisposed to a financial destination—Sidewalk to poverty, Slowlane to mediocrity, and the Fastlane to wealth.
By default, culture will define wealth for you. Which definition you receive and adopt depends on the roadmap you follow. Wealth cannot be financed at a car dealership or with a credit application. The media has us believing that wealth comes from what we wear, eat, drink, drive, and do.
Wealth is authored by a wealth trinity: solid familial relationships, fitness or health, and unfettered freedom. Lack of freedom and choice, a disrespected piece of wealth, endangers our health and relationships. “Faux wealth,” or unaffordable material possessions, is destructive to the wealth trinity.
If you buy a boat and resort to mental gymnastics over affordability, YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT.
So how do you know if you can afford something? You can afford it if you pay cash, and your lifestyle doesn't change regardless of future circumstances.
To take advantage of The Millionaire Fastlane, understand that luck is a product of process, action, work, and being “out there.”
If you want luck, dive into process, because process raises events from the ashes.
Like wealth, luck is created by process, not by an event.
Luck is created by increased probabilities that are improved with habitual action or process.
The Law of Victims says you can't be a victim if you don't relinquish power to someone capable of making you a victim.
am sick and tired of people being “responsible!” I want people to be accountable. People need to think before they act. Own their choices before they make them. I am okay with people making mistakes—but freaking own that you made a mistake and learn from it. That's what true accountability and responsibility is all about.
“Who's the idiot, the idiot himself or the idiot that hires the idiot?”
Responsibility: It was my fault that my purse was stolen. Accountability: In the future, I will take precautions to ensure it doesn't happen again.
Taking responsibility is the first step to taking the driver's seat of your life. Accountability is the final.
The Slowlane is a plan that takes decades to succeed, requiring masterful political prowess in a corporate environment, frugality, and Wall Street wizardry.
The predisposed destination of the Slowlane is mediocrity. Life isn’t great, but with enough mental gymnastics, it isn’t so bad either.
In a job, you sell your freedom (in the form of time) for freedom (in the form of money).
Retrace the source of millionaire money, and you will find millions of something.
Effection of scale or magnitude always precedes money, either directly or indirectly. The more lives you impact, directly or indirectly, the more wealth you will attract.
Make a giant impact a few times or make a small impact millions of times.
The Law of Effection states that the more lives you affect or breach, both in scale and magnitude, the richer you will be.
To own your vehicle (you), start a corporation that formally divorces you from the act of business. Your corporation is the body of your surrogate.
The leading cause of poorness is poor choices.
If you aren’t where you want to be, the problem is your choices.
You cannot choose to persevere with one choice. You cannot wake up one day and say, “Oh, I will choose to persevere today.” It must happen every day, not just once! Perseverance is woven by many choices that fabricate lifestyle. If you quit after two tries, have you persevered? Can you claim perseverance after one failure?
Determination is not a solitary choice but thousands of them. You cannot decide to be determined; it must occur repeatedly, concertedly, and with commitment.
It isn’t one choice but hundreds. And when you line a string of choices together, they create your process, and your process will create your lifestyle. Lifestyle choices will make you a millionaire.
Your choices spark the fires of future circumstances.
Your steering wheel (choice) is the most powerful control you have in your life.
Our choices have consequences that transcend decades.
The Butterfly Effect Can you make a choice this instant that can forever alter the trajectory of your future? You can, and it can be the difference between poverty and wealth.
When your choices are extrapolated throughout the years, the divergence widens. The deviation can be either positive or negative.
Every day you make decisions that will ripple through the years. The question is, will your choice ripple to happiness and wealth? Or depression and poverty?
When you are under 25, you have maximum horsepower, and your choices discharge an incredible amount of firepower. A simple choice I made more than twenty years ago is still felt today. That’s a lot of torque!
Your life choices are like a mature oak tree with millions of branches. The branches symbolize the consequences of your choices. Near the tree's trunk, the branches are thick, reflecting the decisions you’ve made early in life, while the top branches are thin, symbolizing decisions near the end of your life.
You can’t decide to “go Fastlane” because it is just an event. A Fastlane process is hundreds of choices.
Regardless of your age, reflect and then analyze the forks in the road and where those forks have taken you. The forks are choices, both complex and straightforward, and each shares the common thread of having the magnificent power to take you somewhere different.
Whatever you decide today impacts tomorrow, weeks, months, years, decades,...
This highlight has been truncated due to consecutive passage length restrictions.
We have two types of choices: Choices of perception (thought patterns) Choices of action (choosing to read)
Choices of perception precede choices of action. If you believe and perceive a particular idea, you will likely act on that belief.
The first step in making better choices starts with your choice of perception because your actions evolve from those perceptions.
Your Perception Is Not the Reality
You can expose your mindset by examining the words in your language and your thoughts. Take, for example, this comment made on the Fastlane Forum:
Your internal language carries weight.
Altering your words and thought perceptions are akin to wiping your windshield clean and seeing beyond your bubble.
