Drones are a clear modern example of technology overcoming some of the restrictions of geography but at the same time serving to underline geography’s importance. The United States houses its growing fleet of drones on at least ten bases around the world. This allows it to hit targets via a joystick operated by a person sitting in an air-conditioned office in Nevada, or transfer control to an operative near the target.
