The desire to rule or control without restraint is dangerous, but so is the inner passivity of waiting to have authority in order to lead. We might fall into the trap of believing it’s up to us—if it’s going to get done, we must do it at whatever cost, regardless of those in authority over us. This extreme doesn’t operate in faith and reliance on God but trusts in our own abilities apart from God.
