“WCW already has a Dec. 19 Starrcade PPV and a January PPV scheduled,” wrote Wade Keller of The Pro Wrestling Torch. “The New Year’s PPV is an added event, making it one of three WCW PPVs in the span of about five weeks. For a number of reasons, WCW wrestlers and production staff are more upset by the added PPV than anything in recent memory. A lot of the wrestlers and staffers, who previously believed they would have that day off, had made plans with friends and family to celebrate.
