think that may be the highest purpose of any work of art, to inspire someone else to save themselves through art. Creating creates creators.

I believe everyone has the capacity to create, but I think you’re one of the lucky ones if you’ve found an outlet for your discomfort or a way to cope through art. At the very least, one’s suffering must be fairly manageable to even contemplate art.

there’s a lot more similarity in how we suffer than the way we experience joy. Rejection stays with you, but I don’t think people register it when they’re happy.

If you feel exposed when you’re singing to someone and each word gives you a distinct terrifying thrill resembling embarrassment, that means you’re doing something right.

try to make something new, something that wasn’t there when I woke up, by the end of every day.

If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.
