Song for a Whale

most people don’t notice that sound moves. If it’s strong enough, it can move anything. Its waves can break glass or shake the ground or deafen a whale.

After she got back home, she tried to explain that she’d left because she was like Ishmael in Moby-Dick. Sometimes she had too much of a drizzly November in her soul and had to get to the sea.

So many ways to fail, all right in front of me. But I had to try.
