A study by Harvard Kennedy School’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics, and Public Policy found that media coverage of Trump during the general election campaign—from the second week of August 2016 to the day before Election Day—was more negative than Clinton’s coverage. The Trump coverage was judged 77 percent negative to 23 percent positive. But over the course of the entire two-year campaign, it was Clinton who received the most negative coverage.
