My main point was that there is a general feeling in society that maths is not that important; that it’s okay not to be good at it. But so much of our economy and technology requires people who are good at maths. I thought the government acknowledging that there is a difference between hexagons and pentagons would raise awareness of the value we should place on maths and education.
